Named the record countries for the number of diseases among Russian tourists in 2017

Experts compiled a list of countries that received the most medical requests from Russian travelers …

This was told in the Association of Tour Operators of Russia.

Turkey became the leader in the number of requests, experts explain this by a large tourist flow of Russians to the country. According to insurers, the state accounted for about 35% of insured events.

According to them, insured tourists vacationing in Turkey often seek medical help, primarily because of the peculiarities of the all-inclusive system and the availability of such services, since there is a doctor’s office in almost every Turkish hotel. In addition, most doctors know Russian, which also simplifies the situation.

In China, tourists are faced with a language barrier and paid medical care (upon returning to Russia, the insurance company reimburses these funds), so they often try to postpone a visit to a doctor before returning to their homeland.

Thailand took the second place by the number of people visiting doctors: a hot climate and exotic cuisine are factors that increase the risk of intestinal infections.

Also on the list are Bulgaria, Vietnam, Greece, Dominican Republic, India, Spain, Cyprus, UAE and Tunisia.

Insurers report that most often insured tourists turned to doctors in connection with viral diseases and intestinal infections requiring outpatient care. More rarely, vacationers needed hospitalization. Posthumous repatriation and evacuation (both early and following long-term treatment in the country of rest) was required in 5-7% of cases of treatment.
